The aim of the International Artists’ Residential Studio is to encourage International Artists to visit Ireland, create work and actively exchange practice and expertise with artists, local arts initiatives and people living and working in Dublin city. Dublin City Council Arts Office welcomes International Artists to apply for a residency (3-6 months) or visit (1 week to 1 month).

The International Studio includes:

- Comfortable living accommodation & large studio space.
- Broadband Internet access
- Administrative and curatorial support from Dublin City Council Arts Office.

There is no application form. Artists apply in proposal form – cover document stating why a residency in the Red Stables is desirable, letters of support from Dublin based partners – artists/arts organisations/collectives, up to date c.v. and samples of work. The proposal will be considered under the parameters of how your period in residence is beneficial to the city, the work of Dublin City Council Arts Office and the citizens of Dublin at large.

2011 Residencies:

Lee Welch(1975, USA) is currently residing in the international studio at The Red Stables.

He completed an MFA at the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam and gained his BFA from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. His practice takes many forms, with work including the periodical, ANAL; a project space, Telephone Booth; as well as episodic events as part of One Thousand & One Nights. In 2008, Welch was Director of FOUR gallery (2005-09), and since then he has been awarded international residencies, including the Banff Residency, Canada (2010). In 2011, his work has been featured in group exhibitions at NoPlace, Oslo, Norway; MuHKA, Antwerp, Belgium; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León (MUSAC), León, Spain; and Pallas Projects, Dublin.
